![]() No more kernel panics.all buttons configurable.the scroll works (hyper fast).the only down side is that there is no quick search function in steermouse like in the logitech software.but oh well.maybe the Steermouse team will implement something similar to that into their next version. While testing all this Steermouse came out with a new version (3.7) so I thought why not give it a try! Now I have been using it since release and man oh man.this is the solution. This worked pretty good without a kernel panic but after a week or so the kernel panics started again:-( Then I found a workaround where I woke my MB out of sleep mode by using the keyboard rather the mouse. USB Overdrive was good but had a few hardware related complications (especially my USB keyboard macally ikey5). So I have the final answer to the Logitech Kernel Panic problem (my personal answer).Īs written before Steermouse (3.6) first caused kernel panics also when used with my VX revolution. Hope this works for other VX owners as well. I'll post as soon as I get another one but up until now I haven't gotten another kernel panic since I started using my described method to wake up my MB. Wow, I'm impressed It has the feeling of the default OS X. I decided to download and install SteerMouse. ![]() So if anyone else has been experiencing random kernel panics this just might be the workaround. I went on the 'net and checked out the alternatives USB Overdrive and SteerMouse. The interesting thing is that right after waking up my MB from sleep the little notification window opens telling me my VX got disconnected only to pop up again a second later to tell me it was reconnected. So I started waking up my MB using my keyboard and-no kernel panics anymore. ![]() In my case the kernel panics only occured when I disconnected the receiver or when my MB went to sleep and I tried to wake it up. ![]() The kernel panics also occured when I was using Steermouse (even though not that frequently like when using LCC 2.2.2) so I reinstalled the LCC 2.2.2 and tried to find out what caused the kernel panics. Steermouse, usb overdrive, LCC (Version 2.0 - 2.2.2) and I think I got the answer. These have been my favorite mice for work for years.Okay, so I played around with different mouse drivers available for the Mac. The cursor movement speed would max out well below my needs. I had trouble getting the 1 & 2S to work the way I wanted on the M2 chips (never had issues on the intel chips) but they were functional. Note: I have the MX Master, MX Master 2S, and MX Master 3. I also setup mouse gestures to go directly to the top and bottom of the file. It also has a feature (called "Flow") I don't use, which in theory would allow you to move the mouse cursor from one computer to another without changing which devices you're connected to, but I don't know if it's compatible between mac and PC. Has a button on the bottom to switch between computers (connections). I spin it hard and it flies down the file. So when it comes to large amount of scrolling it will spin freely. The Logitech MX Master 3 has a unique scroll wheel that is on a flywheel. For Mac (aside from the MM2, this is the closest I can find) And then some (like this) that claim compatibility with both (but often only show pictures for one platform) and look like they might let you scroll by dragging on the top of the mouse, but don't say so. I've searched a lot on Amazon but I've only found Win-specific gesture mice (like this). I see that the Magic Mouse 2 can be made to work on Windows via some special drivers and custom settings, but I'm not so interested in that because I'd prefer not to mess with that, I prefer a wired mouse, and I'm hoping for something cheaper than $74. Less important: I would prefer a wired mouse (connecting via USB a or USB c) since I don't mind the cord and don't want to deal with bluetooth connection or mouse charging issues. ![]() I want to be in a file and be able to zip down to the bottom or zip up to the top with a fast flick of my fingers on the mouse surface, but to be able to go down and up slowly with a slower flick/drag of my fingers on the mouse surface (again, like you can on a trackpad). I would like a mouse that is compatible with both Macintosh and Windows (although if I have to buy a different mouse for each platform, that's okay), and that you can scroll up and down with acceleration (as you can on a trackpad). ![]()
